Putting our dancers centre stage

There is nothing quite like dancing on stage. Exams are a great way to measure progress but the thrill of performing a number in costume, under lights, to an audience, is like no other. It also builds confidence, resilience and team work – all useful skills in life. Most of all, shows are fun which is why we grab every opportunity for our students to find the spotlight! After 56 years our list of shows is very long, so here are just a few recent highlights:

2020 started with the RAMPS panto “Sleeping Beauty“.  Every year we provide dancers for Redruth’s pantomime at the Regal Theatre.

We ended 2019 with the magical “Dancing to Bethlehem“. The basis of the show goes back to the 1970s when Mrs Matthews first conceived a danced Nativity.  It is a unique piece of theatre which features almost the whole school – some 200 performers. The scale of the undertaking means that we only perform it every 4 years and it has become a rite-of-passage for our students.

Before that was the brilliant “Dance Macabre” showcase for our Senior School in October 2019. The wonderful Giselle ballet was a particular highlight.
